The Yeongcheon City Council's Special Committee on Budget and Settlement, chaired by Council Member Kim Sang-ho, held the second meeting of the 254th council's first regular session on Wednesday, wrapping up its work after reviewing and approving the 2025 fiscal year settlement and the city's second supplementary budget for 2026.

The committee, which elected Kim as chair and Council Member Cho Sang-im as vice chair during its first session, took up the 2025 settlement and the 2026 second supplementary budget bill at the second session held Wednesday.

The committee approved the 2025 fiscal year settlement as originally proposed by the city administration. For the 2026 second supplementary budget, the committee based its review on preliminary assessments by each standing committee, considering fiscal soundness and the efficiency, urgency and feasibility of various projects. It cut 10 general account expenditure items totaling 387 million won ($289,000).

The remaining revenue budget, along with the special accounts for the water supply and sewerage projects and the revised fund management plan, were all approved as originally proposed by the city administration.

The budget bill is set to be put to a final vote at the second plenary session on Friday.
