Orion said Thursday it will expand overseas sales of its Bichobi snack, entering 37 Costco stores in Japan simultaneously in October and launching sales at Costco in the United States early next year.

Bichobi's cumulative sales from January to August this year rose 53 percent from a year earlier. During the same period, the snack's top 10 sales locations were areas popular with foreign tourists, including Seoul Station, Busan's Jagalchi Market, Seokchon Lake in Jamsil, Gimpo and Incheon airports, and Jeju.

Orion has been rolling out products with Korean-themed designs and stories, such as the "Korea Edition" and the "National Museum of Korea Edition." In April, the company added a new production line at its Iksan factory, roughly doubling its production capacity.

"Starting with Costco in Japan and the United States, we plan to expand Bichobi's overseas sales into more countries and retail channels," an Orion official said.
