People Power Party floor leader Jeong Jeom-sik criticized President Lee Jae Myung's recent remark that his presidential term is "limited under the Constitution." He called it "mere wordplay that is no different at all from his existing stance."

Jeong made the remarks Thursday in a Facebook post, saying, "Even children know that the president's term is clearly limited under the current Constitution. What we are asking him to promise is that he will not change that, but he keeps giving irrelevant answers."

He added, "We now fully understand that he refuses to say, no matter what, that he will not seek another term or that he will stand trial. Stop mocking the public with wordplay." He also said, "We have no intention of discussing constitutional reform with a force that does not even abide by the current Constitution."

During a state visit to France, President Lee made the remark at a meeting with Korean expatriates in Paris, saying, "Since my term is clearly limited under the Constitution, I need to start summit diplomacy quickly in order to enjoy its effects for as long as possible."
