Following 6.3 Billion Won Issued in First Half, 5.3 Billion Won in Chuseok Gift Certificates Now on Sale
Total of 179.7 Billion Won in Mobile Gift Certificates Issued Since 2020, Spurring Local Consumption
Jungnang-gu will issue a combined 5.3 billion won ($3.95 million) in Jungnang Love Gift Certificates and Jungnang Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Certificates on Monday and Tuesday, ahead of chuseok.
Following the 6.3 billion won issued in the first half of the year, the district will have issued a total of 11.6 billion won in mobile gift certificates this year. The issuance aims to boost local consumption and support small business owners.
The latest issuance is intended to ease the financial burden on residents amid consumption conditions strained by high prices and interest rates. The mobile gift certificates offer discounts to consumers while lowering payment fee burdens for merchants, helping to spur local consumption and boost sales for small business owners.
Including the latest round, the district has issued 177.6 billion won in Jungnang Love Gift Certificates and 2.1 billion won in Jungnang Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Certificates since 2020. That brings the cumulative total for both certificates to 179.7 billion won.
The Jungnang Love Gift Certificate will go on sale at a 5 percent discount starting 3 p.m. Tuesday via the Seoul Pay Plus (+) app. The purchase limit is 500,000 won per person, and the certificate is valid for five years from the date of purchase. Buyers can also receive an income tax deduction of up to 30 percent when filing their year-end tax settlement. The certificate can be used at about 8,400 merchants across the district, including traditional markets, restaurants and bakeries. Merchant information is available on the Seoul Pay Plus (+) app.
The Jungnang Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Certificate is a delivery-only mobile voucher usable on the Seoul Metropolitan Government's public food delivery app, Seoul Delivery Plus (+) Ddaenggyeoyo. It will go on sale at a 15 percent discount starting 10 a.m. Monday on the same app. The purchase limit is 200,000 won per person, and the voucher is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Buyers can also receive an income tax deduction of up to 30 percent when filing their year-end tax settlement.
Alongside this, the district will hold a payment verification event for the Jungnang Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Certificate. Running from Monday until the budget is exhausted, the event will award a 10,000-won Jungnang Love Gift Certificate to the first 1,988 participants. Participants must verify a completed delivery order of 20,000 won or more paid with the Jungnang Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Certificate on the Ddaenggyeoyo app. Details on how to participate are available on the Jungnang-gu district office website and social media channels.
Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Kyung-ki said, "I hope the Jungnang Love Gift Certificate and Jungnang Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Certificate, issued ahead of chuseok, will ease residents' spending burden during the holiday and help boost sales for local small businesses." He added, "I also hope many residents will take part in the Ddaenggyeoyo certificate payment verification event, further invigorating local consumption."
