Even Vincent van Gogh, who once painted sunflowers as a brilliant emblem of hope, would likely be struck by the sight. Sunflowers blanket 8,000 square meters of open land in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province.

A smaller sunflower field also exists in southwestern Jeju, but the one in Yangyang dwarfs it. In the area around 87 Juchang-ri, Ganghyeon-myeon, rows of sunflowers stand tall and dense across a sweeping field.

The site is a designated "landscape crop cultivation complex." Yangyang-gun sowed sunflowers across roughly 8,000 square meters in the Juchang-ri area in July to promote landscape farming.

Under the clear autumn sky, the sunflowers of Juchang-ri stretch out endlessly, offering visitors unforgettable memories and a soothing dose of golden-hued comfort.

Yangyang-gun carefully designed the flower field with walking paths woven through the blooms, allowing visitors to stroll freely and take photos.

In May, a canola field in Gapyeong-ri drew an enthusiastic response from spring visitors. Landscape farming has become a strategic policy for Yangyang-gun.

By cultivating landscape crops twice a year, in spring and fall, across the Gapyeong-ri and Juchang-ri areas, the county aims to boost rural tourism and draw more visitors. This is expected to inject vitality into the local economy.

A Yangyang-gun official said, "We hope this carefully tended sunflower field gives visitors weary from daily life a warm sense of comfort and a chance to fully enjoy the mood of autumn." The official added, "In addition, we will do our best to manage the canola sown in Gapyeong-ri in September so that it blooms beautifully next spring."
