Catholic Medical Center completes rollout of 'bzp' expense management service across 10 institutions
Bizplay, a cost management solutions company, has gained recognition for the technology behind its "bzp" expense management service after entering five of South Korea's largest hospitals.
According to the company Wednesday, the Catholic Medical Center (CMC) of the Catholic University of Korea completed the rollout of Bizplay's e-receipt system on Aug. 31. The project integrates the entire process into a single system, from collecting key expense documentation to preparing statements, obtaining approvals and archiving. Documentation covered includes corporate card records, electronic tax invoices, cash receipts and paper receipts. The company said linking the system with its existing internal platforms, including its management information system and groupware, improved the efficiency of financial operations.
The rollout covered 10 institutions in total: CMC, the Catholic University's Seongui Campus, and eight affiliated hospitals — Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital, Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, Bucheon St. Mary's Hospital, Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, Incheon St. Mary's Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital and Daejeon St. Mary's Hospital.
The system applies AI-based optical character recognition, or AI OCR, to paper receipts and invoices. When employees register documentation, the technology automatically identifies key information, cutting down on manual data entry. It is also linked to a clinical research project management system. This allows documentation and approval processes generated by clinical research units — not just general administrative offices — to be handled within the same e-receipt framework.
"This project with the Catholic Medical Center marks Bizplay's first entry into one of Korea's 'big five' tertiary general hospitals, and it is also the first case of integrating expense documentation from clinical research organizations — an area that had long been a blind spot — into a single system," said Seok Chang-gyu, CEO of Bizplay. "Building on the experience from this project, we plan to expand our hospital-specialized e-receipt business to support greater financial efficiency and stronger internal control systems at large hospitals."
Meanwhile, Bizplay currently provides its "bzp" expense management service to more than 2,800 mid-sized and large companies and public institutions, as well as about 30,000 small and medium-sized enterprises. The latest project stands out as the first case of integrating e-receipt documentation from both general administrative organizations and clinical research organizations.
Earlier, on Aug. 8, Bizplay signed a strategic MOU with BQ AI, an AI data intelligence company, to advance AI-based work automation and upgrade its business-to-employee, or B2E, services.
Under the partnership, Bizplay will combine its travel and expense management platform with BQ AI's AI-based data structuring technology and news data capabilities. The two companies also plan to jointly research technology to structure unstructured data, including various forms of documentation such as travel and expense receipts, settlement and approval documents, and internal regulations.
