Pace Gallery Seoul, located in Yongsan-gu, is presenting a solo exhibition by Friedrich Kunath titled "The Closest and Farthest Place" through Oct. 24.

The show marks Kunath's first solo exhibition at Pace Seoul, featuring about 30 new paintings and drawings displayed across the gallery's second and third floors. The exhibition highlights the artist's distinctive painterly world, where dreamlike natural landscapes serve as a backdrop for personal memory and cultural imagery to intersect freely, blurring the line between the familiar and the unfamiliar, the real and the imagined.

Born in Germany in 1974, Kunath graduated from the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig and is currently based in Los Angeles. He is known for combining disparate references — German Romantic painting, the landscape tradition of the Hudson River School and American pop culture — within a single composition, probing the boundaries between seriousness and humor, tragedy and comedy.
