Chef Yoon Nam-no expressed condolences over the death of the late writer Jeon Kyung-cheol, known as the "Peter Pan dad," who raised a son with severe autism.
On Monday, Yoon shared a video on social media showing Jeon, who died Saturday, spending time with his son, who has severe autism.
"I wish I could marinate some sweet galbi and feed it to him," Yoon wrote, expressing his sorrow.
For more than two decades, Jeon raised his son alone. Though his son is 27 years old, his mental age is estimated at 2 to 3.
After being diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, Jeon worried about what would happen to his son once he was gone. For more than a year, he visited some 1,000 facilities across the country, searching for a stable place where his son could live after his death.
Last month, Jeon appeared on the talk show "You Quiz on the Block," where he shared his own story and that of his son.
At the time, Jeon said, "I want to tell him to forget about his father and live happily, but honestly, I do not want to be completely forgotten. I hope he remembers me only faintly, as an old man who looked at him warmly." He added, "I will surely be holding in my arms the handsome baby who gave me happiness for 27 years," moving many who heard it.
Jeon, who had been working to establish the Peter Pan Foundation for people with developmental disabilities and build a community village for them, died Saturday at age 63.
