Sets vision of ‘Ulsan education where today is happy’
“Will build Ulsan education trusted by students, parents, staff and community”
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education on Wednesday finalized and announced its “Basic Direction for Ulsan Education (2026-2030)” under 11th Superintendent Cho Yong-sik, setting “Ulsan education where today is happy” as its vision.
The vision embodies a commitment not only to preparing students for the future but also to closely attending to the difficulties faced by the education community today. To realize this, the office presented its education goal as “education where students think for themselves, grow together, and open the door to tomorrow.”
An official from the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education said, "The basic direction for Ulsan education embodies Superintendent Cho Yong-sik's educational philosophy, which is to ensure students feel the joy of learning and the warmth of relationships in school life, and to make sure today's happiness and growth lead to a solid future."
To bring the new educational vision to life in schools, the office also laid out five policy directions: more enjoyable learning, more tailored and detailed support, warmer relationships, a more sustainable environment, and administration that is closer to the field.
These policies aim to help students feel the joy of learning by asking questions and exploring on their own. They also aim to support the growth of each student regardless of their starting point. They seek to build an education community of mutual trust among students, staff and parents. They aim to expand future-oriented school spaces so that today's learning carries into the future. And they pursue field-centered administration that reflects the voices of those on the ground.
The office plans to share the new basic direction with all departments at its headquarters, affiliated institutions, district education support offices and individual schools to ensure consistent education and administration.
Superintendent Cho Yong-sik said, "We will make sure the new direction for Ulsan education does not remain a slogan but leads to real change in schools and classrooms, so that we can build an Ulsan education trusted by the entire education community — students, parents, staff and the local community."
