Elmos to begin mass production of 130nm-based products next year

Partnership expands from 350nm technology to broaden automotive chip cooperation

SK keyfoundry will begin full-scale mass production of controllers for German automotive semiconductor company Elmos Semiconductor using a 130-nanometer process starting next year.

SK keyfoundry said Wednesday that it signed a long-term supply agreement with Elmos based on the 130nm process in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The company plans to steadily supply wafers to Elmos through 2037, strengthening its partnership with a key customer in the automotive semiconductor sector.

Elmos' first product developed using the 130nm process is the E550.01 Smart Quad Channel Electronic Fuse (eFuse) Controller, which is set to enter full-scale mass production next year. The product intelligently protects and controls complex multi-power networks, supporting the "zonal control architecture" that is central to future vehicles.

SK keyfoundry's 130nm technology features effective electrical isolation and low substrate current, enabling high-density, high-voltage design.

SK keyfoundry has worked with Elmos on 350nm technology for the past 18 years. With the new 130nm contract, the company expects to expand the share of its sales coming from automotive semiconductors.

The two companies also agreed to jointly launch a new ultra-compact, high-efficiency embedded flash (eFlash) memory cell.
