Three sections: provincial notices, news and promotion, and legal updates
Gyeonggi Province said Wednesday that it would produce and distribute a monthly newsletter titled "Livestock Product Safety Management News" to help livestock product operators and related institutions quickly and easily access hygiene and safety information.
Gyeonggi Province created the newsletter to address the difficulty operators face in tracking hygiene-related policies, inspection results and legal amendments that are currently scattered across multiple agencies and websites. Key information is summarized on a single page, with links to detailed data for each item.
The newsletter will be organized into three sections each month: provincial notices, news and promotion, and legal amendments. The provincial notices section will feature Gyeonggi Province's announcements and seasonal inspection plans. The news and promotion section will cover hygiene inspection results, the status of testing institutions, and trends in livestock product prices and sales. The legal amendments section will contain public notices, statutory revisions and pending legislation that operators should be aware of.
The September issue includes a manual Gyeonggi Province produced on reporting manufactured livestock product items, along with an inspection plan for high-consumption livestock products ahead of chuseok. It also covers the results of inspections of businesses handling high-consumption livestock and dairy products during the summer, as well as the status of designated institutions for self-testing livestock product quality. In addition, it details trends in livestock product prices and chuseok gift set sales.
On the legal and regulatory front, the issue introduces improvements to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points education system that took effect Aug. 11. It also covers proposed legislation to improve the item manufacturing report system. In addition, it details efforts to push a bill against so-called "sneaky price hikes," in which businesses quietly lower ingredient content or quality instead of raising prices outright.
Gyeonggi Province will distribute the newsletter through its official SNS accounts for use by livestock product operators, city and county governments, and related institutions across the province. It is also available for anyone to download from the Gyeonggi Province website under the "Field-Specific Information — Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Maritime Affairs — Livestock Product Safety Management — Livestock Product Safety News" board.
"It is important for operators to check livestock hygiene-related regulations and on-site information in time and apply them in their actual business operations," said Lee Eun-kyung, director of Gyeonggi Province's Animal Quarantine and Hygiene Division. "We will strive to provide essential information in an easy-to-understand way every month to strengthen operators' capacity for voluntary hygiene management and to build a safe distribution environment for livestock products."
