Discount events offer options from premium to budget-friendly
E-mart said Wednesday that sales of liquor gift sets are climbing ahead of chuseok.
Combined sales of whiskey and wine sets at E-mart grew 14.4 percent during this year's Lunar New Year holiday compared with the same period last year. The growth trend has carried into chuseok as well. Gift sets of wine and whiskey saw preorder sales rise 39.6 percent and 38.6 percent, respectively, from Aug. 6 to Monday, compared with the same preorder period last year's chuseok.
The Scotch whisky Royal Salute 21 Years (700 milliliters) is available for 219,800 won ($164) with Shinsegae points applied, while The Glenlivet 18 Years (700 milliliters) can be purchased for 149,800 won with points applied.
Wine options are equally varied. Chateau Margaux 2018 (750 milliliters) sells for 1.298 million won, and Catena Zapata Adrianna River Malbec 2021 (750 milliliters) goes for 299,000 won. Budget-friendly wine sets such as the Pujol set (red plus semi-dulce) and the Vina Maite set (tinto plus blanco) are each priced at 29,800 won.
"We recommend these holiday-themed products not only as gifts but also for personal collections or gatherings," said Go A-ra, an E-mart liquor buyer.
