Cheong Wa Dae said Tuesday that reports claiming the Democratic Party of Korea's leadership had conveyed to the presidential office that minister nominee Yong Hye-in was unfit for the post were "completely false."

The presidential office issued the denial in a notice Tuesday, responding to a media report that the Democratic Party leadership had relayed an "unfit" assessment of Yong to Cheong Wa Dae.

"We have received no request from party leadership to withdraw the nomination or for her resignation," Cheong Wa Dae said.

Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok also pushed back on the report Tuesday, saying on the party's YouTube channel, Democratic Party TV, that it "does not reflect the facts."
