Bonghwa-gun County Chief Choi Ki-young visited the North Gyeongsang Province government office Friday and met with Governor Lee Cheol-woo to request budget support and administrative cooperation for the smooth implementation of key projects planned for 2027.

The meeting was arranged to share with the provincial government the major initiatives Bonghwa-gun has been prioritizing since the launch of the ninth directly elected administration, and to discuss ways the province could cooperate in securing future growth drivers and resolving local challenges.

During the meeting, Choi outlined several projects — including a forest healing and resilience complex, a native plant industrialization cluster, a Korea-Vietnam historical and cultural content experience center, and a sunshine income village support project — and requested budget support and administrative cooperation to advance them in 2027.

He particularly urged the province to take an active role in expediting construction of an access road linked to the Bonghwa pumped-storage power plant, a large-scale national infrastructure project currently underway, and called for provincial support to improve accessibility and ensure safety for the large-scale construction work ahead.

Choi also asked for the province's attention and support in expanding the sunshine income village project, which shares renewable energy generation revenue with local residents, so that the energy transition and resident income gains can translate into tangible benefits for the community.

"Close cooperation with North Gyeongsang Province is above all essential for our key projects to proceed as planned and deliver real results," Choi said. "We will continue to communicate and work actively with the province and central government ministries to secure national and provincial funding and do our utmost to resolve local challenges."
