Outreach program to visit university labs for prospective candidates
Hyundai Rotem announced Tuesday it is recruiting new and experienced hires in the aerospace sector to secure talent capable of leading the industry's future. Applications opened Aug. 24 and will be accepted through Sept. 20 via the company's recruitment website, after which candidates will go through aptitude testing and interviews before final selections are made.
The recruitment covers 14 aerospace roles, including positions in ducted ramjet engines, hypersonic engines, methane engines and propulsion system test facilities.
Alongside the hiring drive, Hyundai Rotem plans to run an outreach program aimed at building a pipeline of future talent. This month, the company will visit research laboratories at major universities and graduate schools to hold recruitment information sessions for prospective applicants.
This marks the first time Hyundai Rotem has conducted a standalone recruitment drive exclusively for the aerospace sector. The company said the decision reflects its intent to strengthen competitiveness in the rapidly growing aerospace market and bring on board the key personnel needed to accelerate related projects.
The roles being filled are central to Hyundai Rotem's core aerospace business. Work on ducted ramjet and hypersonic engines for guided weapons is advancing in collaboration with the Agency for Defense Development and the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality.
In addition, drawing on its experience as the first domestic developer of a methane engine, the company is pursuing high-performance methane engine development through a Defense Agency for Technology and Quality project on reusable launch vehicle propulsion. Propulsion system test facilities represent another area of expansion, with capabilities demonstrated through past projects including the Nuri rocket program.
Since entering the aerospace business in earnest, Hyundai Rotem has consistently worked to sharpen its competitiveness and is positioning itself as a comprehensive defense company spanning land and space. This year the company reorganized its research and development structure, establishing a Space Mobility Team within its Aerospace Development Center, and has rebranded its defense division as AD (Aerospace & Defense) to reflect the growing role of aerospace across the organization.
The company is also building out its aerospace infrastructure. In March, Hyundai Rotem signed an investment memorandum of understanding with North Jeolla Province and Muju-gun to establish an aerospace production base. The plan calls for investing about 300 billion won ($221 million) by 2034 to build an integrated aerospace production complex that will serve as a hub for both manufacturing and research and development.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Rotem is participating in the 34th Poland International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO), held in Kielce, Poland, from Tuesday through Friday (local time), where it will unveil for the first time a Polish-variant K2 tank (K2PL) fitted with locally sourced mission equipment as a showcase of its localization progress.
