Gangbuk-gu District Mayor Jung Chang-su visited a "Gangbuk Oasis" station installed along the dirt path near Beolligyo Bridge on Uicheon Stream on Thursday to inspect its operations.

Jung tested the outdoor water purifier and ice maker himself, filling a tumbler with cold water and ice to assess the equipment's condition and ease of use. He then received a briefing from facility staff on usage and maintenance, and offered words of encouragement to volunteer disaster-prevention team members serving as "Oasis Guardians" on site.

The Gangbuk Oasis stations replace the previous practice of handing out single-use plastic water bottles, allowing residents to fill their own tumblers or reusable containers with chilled water (approximately 5 degrees Celsius) and ice. The stations operate daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Oct. 31.

"We will manage the facilities hygienically and safely so residents can use them with peace of mind," Jung said.
