A professional baseball player with a Greater Seoul team has been accused of sexual assault, it has emerged.

According to News1, a woman identified as A filed a complaint with police last year against a player in his 30s, identified as B, who plays for a Greater Seoul pro baseball club, accusing him of quasi-rape causing bodily injury.

In her complaint, A said she went to B's hotel room, where she was assaulted before being subjected to unwanted sexual intercourse. She also said she sustained physical injuries during the incident and suffered psychological trauma afterward.

Police concluded that the charges against B could not be substantiated and decided not to refer the case to prosecutors.

Investigators reached that conclusion after reviewing KakaoTalk messages exchanged between the two before and after the incident, as well as hotel closed-circuit television footage. The CCTV footage reportedly showed A adjusting her clothing after leaving the room.

A challenged the decision and filed an objection in March. The case was transferred to prosecutors and is currently under investigation.

B's attorney said the player "feels deeply aggrieved by this accusation," adding that he "did not assault A and categorically denies any allegation of sexual misconduct."

A police official confirmed that a complaint had been filed, but said it was "a case in which the charges were not substantiated, leading to a decision not to refer it."
