Amid rapid expansion in the AI and data center market, Lotte Innovate is accelerating its push into IT equipment supply and data center design, build and operate (DBO) projects.

Lotte Innovate announced Thursday that it has won a contract to manage IGIS Asset Management's Ansan data center. The deal extends the two companies' partnership, which began in February when they signed a DBO agreement for an edge data center.

The Ansan data center will span two below-ground floors and nine above-ground floors, with a power capacity of 40 megawatts.

Lotte Innovate has directly built and operated four data centers, located in Seoul, Yongin and Daejeon.

The company said its colocation service — which houses IT equipment in stable power, cooling and security environments — has demonstrated its data center capabilities by meeting the needs of a diverse range of customers, including global firms.

Lotte Innovate's own data centers also serve as infrastructure for AI technology research and testing. The company supports a university-industry consortium led by Ajou University in a project developing thermal management technology for data center carbon neutrality.

The company said its external business references are growing quickly. After winning a data center operations contract with Camsquare in December 2025 and signing the IGIS Asset Management edge data center DBO agreement in February, Lotte Innovate has now secured this 40-megawatt facility contract, extending its reach into large-scale data centers.

Lotte Innovate plans to expand its DBO and outsourced operations business for external customers and strengthen its project portfolio across a range of scales and uses — from edge data centers to AI and hyperscale facilities.

Kim Geun-bae, executive director of Lotte Innovate's cloud division, said the contract is significant because it marks an expansion of the company's cooperation with IGIS Asset Management from edge data center DBO to large-scale data center operations. "We will leverage our large data center operating track record to generate new business opportunities and follow-on contracts, and develop data centers into a core growth business for the company," he said.

Meanwhile, under the edge data center DBO contract Lotte Innovate won with IGIS Asset Management in February, the company will take full responsibility for maintenance and operations after completion, providing the data infrastructure. That facility will run from one below-ground floor to nine above-ground floors, with a power capacity of 9.9 megawatts, and is targeted for completion in December 2028.
