Local government officials among those supported

The Korea Real Estate Board said it conducted a capacity-building training program for local government officials and other stakeholders involved in the national building management regime, holding sessions in major regions including Seoul, Daejeon and Daegu from Monday through Friday.

The training was co-organized with the Korea Infrastructure Safety Corporation and was designed to deepen participants' understanding of the building management system and strengthen their practical skills. It targeted officials from local governments, inspection agencies and those who prepare building management plans.

The Korea Real Estate Board has been designated as the Building Management Support Center under Article 39 of the Building Management Act, through which it provides systematic support for implementing the building management regime, training stakeholders and reviewing the adequacy of building management plans. The Building Management Act, which took effect in May 2020, sets out rules for the safe and efficient management of buildings throughout their entire life cycle, from construction to demolition.

The curriculum covered the Building Management Act and the building management plan system, how to use the building life-cycle management system, and an overview of the building inspection regime along with hands-on inspection practices.

The program placed particular emphasis on practical content that officials from local government licensing departments and inspection agency field staff could apply directly in their day-to-day work, with the goal of improving both their understanding of the system and their on-the-job capabilities.

Kim Nam-seong, head of the Korea Real Estate Board's Housing Supply Support Division, said he hoped the training would help participants better understand the regime and carry out their duties more efficiently in the field. "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with related agencies to improve the quality of building management work, prevent inadequate inspections and contribute to public safety," Kim said.
