Submissions accepted Sept. 7 through Oct. 9 under the theme 'My Yangcheon Pick,' tied to the district's seven governance goals; open to anyone with an interest in Yangcheon-gu, with vertical videos of 20–60 seconds — AI-generated works also eligible
Yangcheon-gu is hosting the "2026 Yangcheon-gu Short-Form Video Contest: My Yangcheon Pick," accepting submissions from Sunday through Oct. 9, to uncover the district's diverse appeal through fresh, creative perspectives.
The contest was launched in line with the growing trend of short, intuitive video content consumption on mobile platforms and social media, giving participants a fun and accessible way to express and share Yangcheon-gu's charm and key policies through short-form content.
The theme, "My Yangcheon Pick," is tied to the seven governance goals of the district's ninth elected-term administration. Participants choose one of the following categories — a convenient city, a green future city, an economically vibrant city, a safe city, a premium education city, a fun city, or a warm city — and freely capture Yangcheon-gu's landmarks, policies, culture and everyday life from their own perspective.
Anyone with an interest in Yangcheon-gu may enter individually or in teams of up to four. Submissions must be vertical videos (1,080 × 1,920 pixels, MP4 format) running between 20 and 60 seconds. Works produced using generative AI are also eligible, in keeping with current content-creation trends; in such cases, participants must specify in their application the tools used, the scope of AI involvement, and the production process.
To enter, participants must post their completed video publicly on their own social media account with the required hashtags — #yangcheonu, #shortformcontest and #greatplacetoliveyangcheon — then submit the original video file along with an application form, pledge, and personal information consent form to the public relations division of Yangcheon-gu Office by email.
The district will select finalists through a preliminary review, then determine final rankings by combining scores from an expert panel (60 percent) and online public voting (40 percent). A total of 3.5 million won ($2,555) in prize money will be awarded to eight winning entries: first place receives 1 million won, two second-place winners receive 500,000 won each, and five encouragement-prize winners receive 300,000 won each. Results will be announced Oct. 30. Winning works will be widely used for district promotion through Yangcheon-gu's official social media accounts, website, IPTV and bulletin boards.
Starting this year, the district has also been running "Yangcheon Quiz Challenge," a participatory content program designed to help residents engage with key district policies in an easy and entertaining way. Three multiple-choice questions based on district news covered in the media are posted on the district website each month, with related content on its blog, Instagram and Yangcheon TV provided as hints to deepen policy understanding. Residents can check the schedule and participate through the "Yangcheon Quiz" board on the Yangcheon-gu Office website.
"We hope the district's diverse charms and policies will be conveyed in a more approachable way through short-form videos filled with personality and fresh perspectives," Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Gi-jae said. "We encourage everyone to express Yangcheon in their own way and help spread the appeal of Yangcheon as a city people want to live in — a great place to call home."
