The district signed a job-creation agreement Tuesday with Musinsa, a leading domestic fashion platform based in Seongsu-dong, linking the company's hiring needs with public employment policy to expand residents' job opportunities close to home.
Seoul's Seongdong-gu signed a "community job-creation partnership agreement" with Musinsa, one of South Korea's leading fashion platforms, on Tuesday.
The agreement aims to share Musinsa's expertise — built as the company helped establish Seongsu-dong as the hub of K-fashion — with the local community, providing residents with quality private-sector jobs and laying the groundwork for sustainable, mutually beneficial growth between the company and the district.
Under the agreement, the two parties will build a close cooperative framework to expand residents' practical employment opportunities. Musinsa will offer local residents a range of hiring opportunities by sharing job listings and participating in employment support events, while Seongdong-gu will provide administrative support — including publicizing job openings and referring candidates — to facilitate smooth recruitment connections.
The agreement is particularly significant in that it directly links companies' actual hiring demand with local job-seeking talent. Musinsa is expected to use the district's employment support infrastructure to secure skilled local candidates, while Seongdong-gu anticipates expanding in-district job opportunities by effectively connecting residents with the company's openings.
Through this arrangement, the district expects to strengthen a community-centered job support system in which publicly led employment policy translates into real hiring by private companies, with positive effects on the district's employment rate and local economic vitality.
Musinsa has been actively pursuing a range of community partnership initiatives centered on Seongsu-dong, where its headquarters is located. The company has worked with Seongdong-gu on revitalizing commerce along Seoulsup-gil and preventing gentrification, and has also participated in social contribution projects supporting vulnerable community members, including people with mobility disabilities and youth who serve as family caregivers.
The job-creation agreement is expected to deepen the partnership between Seongdong-gu and Musinsa, positioning the collaboration as a leading model of sustainable local development in which government and business work together to shape the district's future.
"By combining Musinsa's global fashion platform capabilities with our district's job support infrastructure, we will build a 'live-near-work employment ecosystem' where job seekers can realize their dreams without having to go far from home," Seongdong-gu District Mayor Yoo Bo-hwa said.
