History lecturer Sul Min-seok, whose graduate degree was revoked over plagiarism allegations, has completed his studies at the graduate school he re-enrolled in.

On Friday, Sul announced his graduation on social media, posting photos of himself in academic regalia holding a bouquet of flowers.

"For 30 years I stood at the podium as a teacher, and for the past three years I sat at a desk as a student," Sul said. "I studied hard and learned a great deal."

He added, "I am grateful to everyone who supported me along the way, and I again extend my deepest thanks to the professor who held my hand from the outset to the end."

Sul's troubles began when his master's thesis in history education, submitted to Yonsei University's Graduate School of Education in 2010, became embroiled in plagiarism allegations in 2020.

At the time, Sul acknowledged wrongdoing, saying he had been careless about citing sources and adding footnotes while referencing other papers, and stepped down from all the broadcasting programs he had been appearing on.

Yonsei University's graduate school committee subsequently reviewed the matter and revoked his master's degree. Sul re-enrolled at Yonsei University's graduate school in September 2022.
