LG Group will donate 1 billion won ($724,000) and provide emergency relief supplies to help southern regions — including Busan, South Gyeongsang Province, Gwangju and South Jeolla Province — recover from recent flood damage.

LG Group said Friday it had donated 1 billion won to the Korea Disaster Relief Association to help residents in flood-affected areas return to daily life as quickly as possible. The funds will go toward disaster recovery and support for flood victims.

LG Group also plans to deliver emergency relief kits — containing blankets, relief clothing and daily necessities — to flood victims at temporary shelters through the Korean Red Cross.

Since 2022, LG Group has partnered with the Korean Red Cross to produce 2,000 emergency relief kits each year for distribution to disaster sites when natural disasters strike.

"We will continue to provide support so that flood victims going through difficult times can quickly regain stability and return to their daily lives," an LG Group official said.

Key affiliates are also contributing to recovery efforts.

LG Electronics is running a mobile outreach service that dispatches flood-response vehicles equipped with specialized equipment to affected areas, offering cleaning, repair and parts replacement for flood-damaged home appliances.

LG Uplus is providing Wi-Fi at temporary shelters and supporting mobile phone battery charging to ensure evacuated residents can stay connected.

As heavy rainfall damage has spread across southern regions in recent days, major companies have been stepping up with donations and on-site recovery support.
