Daegu city announced Thursday it is accepting nominations for the 50th Pride of Citizenship Award.

The award is open to Daegu residents who have made notable contributions to the local community — including efforts to revitalize the regional economy, embody civic spirit, engage in selfless volunteer work, assist neighbors in need, or practice filial piety and respect for elders. Candidates must have a clear record of achievement in at least one of these areas.

Award categories include community development, social service, good deeds and filial piety, and a special award. Through a screening process, one grand prize winner, three main prize winners, and special award recipients will be selected.

Nominations will be accepted from Friday through 6 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Members of the general public — requiring the signatures of at least 50 Daegu residents aged 19 or older — and heads of organizations may submit nominations to the district or county office where the candidate resides. Nominations from city department heads and heads of related agencies should be submitted to Daegu's Autonomous Administration Division.

Required documents include a nomination letter, a record of achievements, a resume, and supporting materials. These can be downloaded from the official notices section of the Daegu city government website.

All nominees will undergo a field investigation before a merit review committee composed of experts from various fields conducts a rigorous and impartial evaluation to select the final recipients.

Winners are to receive their award certificates at the 2027 Daegu Citizens' Week ceremony, scheduled for Feb. 21 through Feb. 28.

"We ask institutions, organizations and citizens to take an active interest and submit nominations, so that the many unsung contributors who have devoted themselves to our community and neighbors can be recognized," said Kim Dong-woo, head of Daegu's administrative affairs bureau.
