Weather forecast for Wednesday: Highs up to 36 C, showers in Greater Seoul and Gangwon Province

Rain is forecast for Wednesday across the Greater Seoul area and the inland, mountainous and northern coastal areas of Gangwon Province.

Showers will fall in northern Gyeonggi Province and the northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province in the early morning hours (midnight to 6 a.m.), with rain spreading to the Greater Seoul area and Gangwon Province's inland, mountainous and northern East Sea coastal areas from morning (6–9 a.m.) through the evening (6–9 p.m.).

Scattered showers are also possible in the afternoon (noon to 6 p.m.) over the mountainous and mid-mountain areas of Jeju Island.

Expected rainfall totals are 5–60 millimeters for northeastern Gyeonggi Province and the northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province; 5–30 mm for Seoul, Incheon, northwestern and southeastern Gyeonggi Province, the West Sea Five Islands, and the central and southern inland, mountainous and northern East Sea coastal areas of Gangwon Province; and 5–10 mm for the mountainous and southern mid-mountain areas of Jeju Island.

On Wednesday, morning lows will range from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, with afternoon highs of 27 to 36 C. Temperatures are expected to remain above seasonal norms for now, with the heat wave continuing.

Waves along the East Sea, West Sea and South Sea coastal waters will reach 0.5 to 1.0 meter.

In the open offshore waters (within about 200 kilometers of the coastline), wave heights are forecast at 0.5–1.0 m in the East Sea, 0.5–3.0 m in the West Sea and 0.5–2.5 m in the South Sea.
