Actor Jang Dong-yoon, 34, will marry actor Kim Seung-yoon, 29, in October.

Jang announced the news Tuesday through a handwritten letter posted on his social media.

"This October, I will be marrying someone who has been by my side for a long time," he wrote, adding that the ceremony would be a quiet religious service attended by both families.

"There was a great deal of thought and deliberation before I made this decision," Jang said. "We spent a lot of time together, getting to know each other's many sides, and through that we came to understand and cherish each other even more. We have decided to be each other's greatest supporters and to live a fun and happy life together."

Jang first came to public attention in 2015 when he apprehended a convenience store robber and was featured in news reports as a "handsome college student who caught a thief." He made his acting debut the following year in the web drama series "Game Company Women." He went on to earn recognition for his performances in the drama series "The Tale of Nokdu," "Midnight in the Psychiatric Ward" and "Flowers Bloom from the Sand," and has also drawn praise for expanding into film directing.

Kim, born in 1997, has appeared in the drama series "The Tale of Nokdu," "Method," "Crash," "Please Take Care of Eagle Five Brothers" and "Let's Get Married 1+2." Her film credits include "Lucky Chan-sil," "Gukdo Theater," "Be My Ears," "In Water" and "Our Day," as well as "Nuruk," a film directed by Jang.
