Sampyo Group announced Monday that it has installed and activated night lighting at the Sampyo Garden, its dedicated garden within the 2026 Seoul International Garden Expo at Seoul Forest.

The company placed lights along key pedestrian routes, including the deck sections bordering the waterfront. The installation aims to improve visitor safety after dark and allow the garden to be used throughout the evening hours.

The lighting was installed as indirect illumination to highlight the shapes of major plantings and waterside spaces, with a focus on creating a nighttime landscape distinct from the garden's daytime appearance.

Some of the lights run on solar power, charging during the day and drawing on stored electricity at night to reduce reliance on the external grid.

The Sampyo Garden is a corporate-sponsored garden that Sampyo Group created at Seoul Forest to provide a public rest space. It was recently named among the Seoul Metropolitan Government's "18 Gardens to Enjoy in Summer," in the category of atmospheric rainy-day gardens. The garden also offers interactive content, including a playlist accessible via QR code on-site.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, this year's Seoul International Garden Expo runs from May 1 through Oct. 27 across Seoul Forest. The city has said it plans to showcase more than 150 gardens across a roughly 495,000-square-meter venue spanning Seoul Forest and the surrounding Seongsu area.

"We installed the night lighting so that citizens can enjoy the Sampyo Garden safely and comfortably, day or night," a Sampyo Group official said. "Applying solar-powered lighting also adds meaning to our efforts to operate the garden in an eco-friendly way."
