A male executive at a state-run casino in Seoul has been booked on charges of illegally filming a female employee in a women's restroom.

According to police, a female employee was using a restroom on the fifth floor of the casino on Thursday afternoon when she noticed a mobile phone being slid under the partition of her stall around 4 p.m.

The employee waited outside the restroom and identified a male team leader-level colleague as he emerged. The victim reportedly felt uncomfortable filing a police report directly and instead asked the company to handle the matter.

The company's grievance department questioned both parties that same night and took possession of the male employee's phone. The company referred the case to police on Friday. The male employee has since been relieved of his duties and placed on standby leave. He reportedly denied the charges the day after the incident.

Police accepted the complaint and booked the man on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, specifically the provision on filming using cameras or similar devices. Investigators plan to call in those involved to take statements and establish the full facts and circumstances of the case.
