Daegu city government is running an integrity pledge campaign through YouTube Shorts.

According to the city on Sunday, it has released a series of short videos on YouTube titled "Integrity Pledge Relay," in which the mayor and senior officials each commit to self-selected anti-corruption goals.

The key integrity goals include reducing unnecessary protocol and entrenched practices, minimizing in-person reporting, showing respect and consideration for staff, expanding communication with employees, and preventing gapjil — the abuse of power by those in positions of authority.

Starting with Mayor Choo Kyung-ho on Sunday, senior city officials — including the administrative vice mayor and the head of the planning and coordination office — are posting their own pledge videos to the city's YouTube channel, "Daegu TV."

Staff members act out real-life scenarios in the videos to help viewers easily understand situations they may encounter on the job.

"I will minimize unnecessary protocol and become a mayor of integrity who listens directly to the voices of employees and citizens," Choo said. "I will simplify formalities, strengthen communication and consideration, and pursue work more efficiently, so that integrity becomes a guiding principle across all areas of city administration."
