Hyundai Motor Group is donating 1 billion won ($718,000) and offering emergency vehicle repair discounts to support recovery efforts in flood-hit areas of South Gyeongsang Province, including Geoje and Tongyeong.

The group said Sunday it delivered the donation to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to help speed up recovery in the affected areas.

Geoje and the Sanyang-eup and Bongpyeong-dong areas of Tongyeong, which bore the brunt of record rainfall in recent days, were designated special disaster zones by the government on Friday.

Alongside the donation, the group is deploying three laundry relief vehicles to the affected areas to help residents clean clothing and other items soiled by floodwaters.

The group is also supporting owners of flood-damaged vehicles. Customers without comprehensive insurance who bring their vehicles in for repairs with proof of flood damage will receive a discount of up to 50 percent on repair costs.

Hyundai Motor will cover up to 3 million won in repair costs for passenger vehicles and up to 5 million won for commercial vehicles. Kia will offer discounts of up to 3 million won for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Complimentary car washes will also be provided upon completion of repairs.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to all those who have suffered significant losses from the sudden heavy rainfall," a Hyundai Motor Group official said. "We hope our donation and the deployment of relief vehicles will provide at least some measure of help."

Hyundai Motor Group has consistently supported disaster recovery through donations and relief activities whenever major disasters have struck.

Last year, the group donated 2 billion won to aid recovery from heavy rainfall in Sancheong, South Gyeongsang Province, and Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province. It also provided support following wildfires in the Gyeongsang region and Ulsan in 2025, heavy rainfall and the Gangneung wildfire in 2023, and the Uljin-Samcheok wildfire in 2022.
