Red Velvet member Wendy has put malicious commenters on notice, with her agency announcing plans for legal action against those who have posted appearance-shaming content and sexually harassing remarks about the singer.

Wendy's agency, Ascend Entertainment (ASND), said Wednesday that despite prior warnings of strict measures against defamation, the spread of false information and sexual harassment, "malicious criticism and degradation targeting the artist's appearance and body, sexual objectification, and sexually harassing posts and comments have continued to be identified up to recently."

The agency then said that "all acts that infringe upon the artist's dignity and rights — including sexually referencing or commenting on specific parts of her body, mocking or demeaning her appearance and physique, and maliciously spreading false information — cannot be considered mere opinions or freedom of expression, and constitute clear defamation."

It warned that it "will continue to monitor malicious activity and respond strongly through necessary legal procedures in order to protect the dignity and rights of our artist."

Wendy made her comeback with the mini album "Velvet Summer" on Aug. 3, appearing noticeably slimmer than before, which drew concern from some fans. Some expressed worry that she may have undergone excessive weight management.
