The Kospi surged more than 4 percent Thursday, triggering a buy-side sidecar on the exchange.

Korea Exchange activated a temporary suspension of program buy asking prices — known as a buy-side sidecar — at 9:57 a.m. on the main bourse. It was the 49th sidecar activation this year.
