Actor Ha-young resumed filming Thursday for the drama series "Odds Are" after taking a week-long break granted by the production team amid controversy over her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese colonial-era activities.

Ha-young had paused filming on "Odds Are" since last week to rest, according to reports.

The production team gave her time off after she broke down in tears on set, judging that she was in an emotionally and physically unstable state. Ha-young rested at home to collect herself and returned to the set Thursday to continue filming the remaining scenes.

She has completed nearly 90 percent of filming for "Odds Are," with all shooting expected to wrap by September at the latest.

"Odds Are" is adapted from a popular TV Asahi drama series and follows a ragtag law office led by Kwon Baek (played by Lee Je-hoon), a former lawyer turned office manager, as they find ways to win seemingly unwinnable cases. Ha-young plays Yeo Sim-hee, a rookie attorney.

Meanwhile, Ha-young issued a personal apology ahead of Liberation Day over the pro-Japanese activities of her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang-ho.

In a handwritten apology released Aug. 12, Ha-young said she had known only fragments of her great-grandfather's life. "After looking into the relevant records myself, I learned of his pro-Japanese conduct," she said. "As a descendant, I sincerely apologize."

She also pledged to look more closely at her family's history and the era, and to approach history with greater care going forward. "I will study our history in depth and do my utmost to honor with respect all those who dedicated themselves to Korea's independence and the well-being of our nation," she said.
