'Company growth starts with employees' health'

Hyundai Group Chair Hyun Jeong-eun has sent summer health food gifts to the homes of all employees to recognize their hard work during the ongoing heat wave.

Hyundai Group said Thursday that Hyun dispatched gifts of samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and beef to 6,590 employees around the traditional midsummer period known as sambok.

The summer health food gift is now in its 21st consecutive year. About 40,000 servings were delivered to the homes of Hyundai Group employees — 5,469 based in South Korea and 1,121 overseas.

In an accompanying letter, Hyun expressed her gratitude to staff. "I am deeply grateful to each of you for fulfilling your responsibilities despite the relentless heat," she wrote, adding that the company's growth and customers' trust ultimately begin with the health of its employees. She also urged staff to take good care of themselves.

Hyun also said that thanks to employees' hard work and effort, Hyundai Group continues to move forward without wavering even in a difficult business environment and is achieving meaningful results across its project sites.

Hyun has been expanding employee benefits to improve health, communication and working conditions. The group recently created a multipurpose lounge space called H.Harmony for employees to connect and interact, and last year renovated dedicated women's recovery and rest rooms at its offices.

A Hyundai Group official said the company would continue building a workplace where employees can enjoy their work and grow together, guided by the belief that sustainable competitiveness ultimately comes from people. "We will keep strengthening a positive work culture through a variety of systems and programs," the official said.
