The Gangwon Food Fair opens Thursday in Gyeonggi Province.

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province said the 14th Gangwon Food Fair runs Thursday through Sunday at Suwon Convention Center, alongside the National Eight Provinces Local Food Fair and the 4th Korea Hometown Love Donation Fair. A total of 57 producers and organizations from 13 cities and counties across the province are taking part.

The 57 participating producers and organizations will showcase a wide range of Gangwon agricultural and specialty products — including wild mountain vegetables, mushrooms, deodeok (a type of bellflower root), pine nuts, honey, squid sundae, salted fermented seafood, dried pollack, surichui rice cakes, potato rice cakes, traditional Korean confections, traditional liquors, and pork and Hanwoo beef. Retail buyers will also be on hand for one-on-one consultations aimed at expanding sales channels for participating producers.

Provincial and municipal authorities will operate a Gangwon promotional pavilion highlighting traditional foods and local cuisine, and will provide information on policy programs including support for those returning to rural life and the hometown love donation scheme.
