Dobong-gu in Seoul has launched a four-day "combat-ready" Ulchi CPX alongside partner agencies to counter increasingly sophisticated security threats.
The district office held the "2026 Ulchi CPX Opening Situation Briefing" on Tuesday at the district hall's integrated emergency operations center, with officials from the Dobong-gu Battalion, Dobong Police Station and Dobong Fire Station in attendance.
The briefing proceeded in three parts: a promotional video on the Ulchi CPX, a report on the exercise overview and key action items, and a military situation briefing.
The exercise runs from Tuesday through Friday amid a broadening range of security threats, including advances in North Korea's nuclear and missile programs as well as cyberattacks, AI-based threats and drone strikes.
During the exercise, the district plans to conduct drills as close to real-world conditions as possible, including an anti-terror drill at the Dobongsan Station transit hub, discussions on key pending issues and a civil defense drill simulating an air raid.
"We will use this as an opportunity to strengthen our emergency response capabilities so we can react swiftly to a wide range of crisis situations, and to further solidify our cooperative framework with partner agencies," district mayor Kim Dong-wook said.
Meanwhile, a military equipment exhibition was held in the first-floor lobby of the district hall that day, serving as a reminder of security awareness and the need for the Ulchi CPX.
