The Gyeonggi Commerce and Business Agency announced Wednesday it has received ISO 37001 certification — the international standard for anti-bribery management systems — from the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency certification body.

ISO 37001, established by the International Organization for Standardization, sets audit criteria that organizations must meet to systematically block and prevent corruption within their operations.

The certification covers the agency's core projects, including support and education for small business owners, traditional markets and neighborhood commercial districts, as well as promotion of the Gyeonggi regional currency.

To obtain the certification, the agency established an anti-bribery management policy in April and conducted corruption risk identification and assessment across all departments.

It trained internal auditors through its integrity officer program, then carried out self-audits and two rounds of external audits to bring its anti-corruption policies, procedures and control systems in line with international standards.

"This certification is the result of an organization-wide effort by all employees to build an integrity-based organizational culture," agency head Kim Min-cheol said. "We will continue to advance our anti-bribery management system and fulfill our social responsibilities as a transparent public institution trusted by small business owners and residents of Gyeonggi Province."
