Gachon University's innovation and growth have been featured in the Excellence in Organizational Marketing Management global innovation case report led by Philip Kotler, a distinguished professor at the Kellogg School of Management and one of the world's foremost marketing scholars, the university announced Wednesday.

The case study was written by Lee Sung-ho, a professor in the business administration department at the University of Seoul. The selection of innovative companies involved leading figures in Korean business academia, including Lee Doo-hee, former dean of Korea University's Graduate School of Business; Jeong Yeon-seung, dean of Dankook University's Graduate School of Business; and Lee Seung-han, an endowed professor at Sookmyung Women's University.

The report recognized Gachon University as a representative example of innovation in Korean higher education, spotlighting how the institution grew from a mid-tier domestic university into a future-oriented innovator through integration and reform following its acquisition of Kyungwon University in 1998.

The report found that Gachon University built a virtuous cycle of innovation by pursuing a series of milestones in sequence: the acquisition of Kyungwon University in 1998, the launch of the unified Gachon University in 2012, the establishment of an engineering-centered academic structure, a BBC (Bio, Battery and Chip) specialization strategy, and AI-based education reform.

The university's growth record also drew attention. Gachon University ranked 25th overall in a 2024 media university evaluation and placed first in a survey by high school guidance counselors naming universities with the highest potential for future development. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it entered the 601–800 band for the first time in 2025 before climbing to the 501–600 band in 2026, placing it joint 15th among domestic universities. In the 2025 World's Universities with Real Impact rankings, it rose 142 places to 61st overall from 203rd the previous year, finishing first in the world in the cost-benefit management category and fourth globally in the ESG trends category.

The report identified Gachon University's "selection and focus" strategy as its greatest competitive strength.
