The reactor at Hanul nuclear power plant unit 4 (1 million kilowatts capacity) in Uljin, North Gyeongsang Province, automatically shut down Wednesday.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters said the unit 4 reactor tripped at around 8:50 a.m. Wednesday after a turbine generator protection signal caused the turbine to stop, triggering the plant's protection system and automatically shutting down the reactor.

The Hanul headquarters said it is investigating the cause.

"There is no radiation impact from the reactor shutdown, and the plant is maintaining a stable condition," a Hanul headquarters official said.
