Korea Investment Trust Management said Wednesday it will hold a live YouTube seminar called "Hantoo Station." The session will run from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and can be watched on the ACE ETF official YouTube channel.
The seminar will focus on the ACE Semiconductor Plus Strategic Industry ETF, a domestic equity product the firm launched Aug. 11. The ETF selects five domestically based strategic industries with proven global competitiveness and invests in two representative stocks from each sector.
The current portfolio covers five industries: semiconductors, shipbuilding, defense, nuclear power and humanoid robots. Semiconductors carry the largest weighting — as of Tuesday, the two representative holdings, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, together accounted for roughly 50 percent of the portfolio. Beyond those two semiconductor stocks, the fund also holds Hyundai Motor, Hanwha Aerospace, Doosan Enerbility and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.
Of the industries in the portfolio, the allocations to semiconductors, shipbuilding, defense and nuclear power are fixed. The remaining one strategic industry slot may be adjusted over time based on factors such as industry size and policy scores, reflecting a methodology designed to respond flexibly to market and policy changes.
The firm has also prepared an event for live viewers. Participants in a surprise quiz held during the seminar will be entered into a draw for Baemin gift cards worth 30,000 won ($21) each — 20 winners — and one pair of AirPods Pro 3. Details will be announced during the live broadcast, and prize winners will be posted on the ACE ETF official blog.
Nam Yong-su, head of the ETF division at Korea Investment Trust Management, said the product was conceived around the idea that investors need to move beyond broad market exposure and focus their investments on the industries actually driving growth. "We plan to explain our analysis of the competitiveness and medium-to-long-term growth potential of each sector — from semiconductors, which are indispensable to Korea's strategic industries, to shipbuilding, defense, nuclear power and humanoid robots," he said.
A focus on medium-to-long-term growth is a value Korea Investment Trust Management has consistently emphasized. Company CEO Bae Jae-gyu has also identified direction and time as the keys to successful investing, stressing that long-term investment in future growth industries matters more than market forecasting or short-term trading. Bae made the remarks in a welcoming address at an investment seminar held Aug. 10 to mark the listing of the ACE Semiconductor Plus Strategic Industry ETF, presenting "long-term investment in future growth" as the firm's investment philosophy.
