Arih, a global food and beverage brand jointly developed by Paldo and hy, is expanding into Japan and Canada, the companies announced Tuesday.
The brand was designed from the outset to target international markets. It first launched at Walmart in the United States in April before debuting in South Korea in June.
In Japan, Arih products will be sold through Seven-Eleven, which operates more than 22,000 stores across the country and is one of Japan's leading convenience store chains. In Canada, the brand will partner with Loblaw Companies, a major retail conglomerate that holds roughly 30 percent of the Canadian retail market.
Country-specific pop-up events will accompany the expansion. The Japan pop-up runs Wednesday through Sunday at Zero Base in Shibuya, Tokyo. The Canada pop-up runs in Toronto from Friday through Sunday, timed to coincide with the BTS World Tour "Arirang" in Toronto and giving the brand direct access to local consumers.
"We are closely studying the retail environment and consumer characteristics of each market, and plan to gradually expand our global sales network to include South America, Southeast Asia and beyond," a Paldo-hy spokesperson said.
