Woori Card launched a value-focused credit card called "Cardui Jeongseok 2 ROUTINE" in May, targeting customers who want to reduce recurring monthly expenses. The card has gained traction as a cost-efficient option, with a "picking rate" — the ratio of benefits received to total spending — of around 6 percent.
The card centers on discounts for regular payments in essential lifestyle categories. It offers 30 percent off digital subscriptions such as YouTube Premium, Netflix and ChatGPT, as well as membership services including Coupang Inc's Wow, Naver Plus membership and Baemin Club.
Utility bills including apartment management fees, telecommunications, education and books, and rental services receive a 15 percent discount. Customers who spend at least 500,000 won ($353) in the previous month — with apartment management fees counting toward that threshold — receive up to 5,000 won off per category, for a maximum discount of 30,000 won. Those who spend at least 1 million won the previous month receive up to 10,000 won off per category, for a maximum of 60,000 won.
The card also includes lifestyle perks. Payments of 50,000 won or more made through major digital wallets — Woori WON Pay, Naver Pay and Kakao Pay — receive a 1,000-won discount per transaction, up to three times a month. Overseas purchases, both online and in-store, receive a 1.5 percent discount. Domestic transactions of 50,000 won or more are eligible for two- to three-month interest-free installment plans.
The card comes in two designs. A distinctive feature is that all six lifestyle discount categories are printed directly on the card face, so customers can check their benefits at a glance without having to memorize them.
"We included apartment management fees — which tend to be a significant expense — in the spending threshold to minimize inconvenience for customers," a Woori Card official said. "We expect the card to deliver meaningful benefits across the recurring everyday spending categories that make up household budgets."
The annual fee is 28,000 won for overseas-enabled physical cards and 22,000 won for a mobile-only card issued for smartphones. Full details on benefits and issuance are available on the Woori Card website or through Woori WON Pay.
