A video purportedly showing Blackpink member Jennie suffering a wardrobe malfunction during a live performance has spread online, sparking debate over its authenticity.

The clip, which began circulating in online communities Tuesday, appears to have been filmed during Jennie's set at the 2026 Summer Sonic Tokyo festival in Japan.

In the video, Jennie performs in a white bra and a denim tube-top-style mini dress. During an intense choreography sequence, part of her chest becomes briefly visible.

Jennie adjusts her outfit multiple times throughout the performance, at one point turning away from the audience to fix her top.

She also appeared visibly emotional during the set, biting her lip as if holding back tears. As she composed herself, her hands appeared to tremble.

As the video spread online, questions arose over whether it is genuine. Some have raised the possibility that it could be an AI-generated deepfake sexual exploitation video.

If the clip is confirmed to be a deepfake, those involved could face criminal penalties. Under Article 14 of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes, anyone who edits, composites or manipulates footage with the intent to distribute it as false video material faces up to seven years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won ($35,300). Those who knowingly view, possess, purchase or store such material also face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million won.

On Monday, Jennie posted a message on her social media reflecting on her recent run of festival performances. "I'm truly grateful for all the love and energy you've sent me at every festival over the past three months," she wrote.

"Looking back, there were so many unexpected moments — times that were good and times that were hard," she said. "But I've come to realize that all of it is ultimately just part of life. Not everything can be perfect, and maybe it never needed to be in the first place."

Jennie added that she was "learning to accept even the difficult moments as they are and to cherish this entire journey." "Those moments have taught me so much and allowed me to grow," she wrote. "I hope that someday, we can all look back on all of this time with love."
