A story about an intercity bus driver who personally washed and changed the clothes of a passenger who had a bathroom accident on board has gone viral online.

According to a post on the social media platform Threads on Tuesday, a user identified as A, who runs a cafe in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, shared what she witnessed on a bus ride back from Seoul, where she had traveled with her family to attend a wedding during a recent holiday.

"On the 7 a.m. bus, a passenger who appeared to be in their 50s or 60s and had difficulty walking without a cane was riding along with my family," A wrote.

The passenger, who had limited mobility, was unable to reach the restroom in time and had an accident in their seat.

When the bus stopped at a rest area, the driver personally helped wash the passenger. A also lent a hand, buying a fresh pair of pants at a nearby store and helping the passenger change with the driver's assistance. She also held an umbrella over the passenger in the rain to help them safely reboard the bus.

"Above all, the driver was truly remarkable," A wrote. "He never showed a hint of displeasure, washed the passenger himself, tidied up the seat and even laid down a cushion."

When the driver offered to reimburse A for the pants, she declined. "It was a meaningful experience to be even a small help to someone," she wrote, adding that she was sorry and grateful to her cafe customers, as she expected to open later than usual that day.

A also shared a photo of the front of the Gyeongnam Express bus she had been riding.

Commenters flooded the post with praise and well-wishes. "I hope the driver wins the lottery this week — and the writer the week after," one user wrote. Others added: "Even family members find it hard to handle something like this — the driver is amazing," "People like this are rare these days," and "There are so many good-hearted heroes in this world."
