Toss Securities posted record quarterly sales, operating profit and net profit in the second quarter of this year, with first-half cumulative earnings also hitting all-time highs. Domestic stock trading volume was a particular standout, surging 695% year-on-year in the first half to 692 trillion won ($489 billion), driving the company's overall growth.
According to Toss Securities on Friday, second-quarter operating profit reached 207.9 billion won, up 143% from the same period last year.
Sales for the quarter came in at 505.3 billion won, a 156% increase, while net profit rose 126% to 152.5 billion won.
All three metrics — sales, operating profit and net profit — set records on both a quarterly and first-half basis.
First-half operating profit totaled 319.5 billion won, up 89% from a year earlier. Sales for the period climbed 139% to 845.8 billion won, and net profit grew 80% to 236.8 billion won.
Growth in domestic and foreign stock trading drove the earnings improvement. Toss Securities' cumulative first-half foreign currency trading volume reached 367 trillion won, while brokerage commission revenue totaled 343.6 billion won — up 104% and 87%, respectively, from the same period last year.
Domestic stock trading volume was particularly strong, reaching 692 trillion won in the first half — nearly eight times the level a year earlier, a 695% increase.
The trading surge translated directly into balance sheet expansion. Total assets at the end of the second quarter exceeded 12 trillion won, up 146% from the same period last year.
Toss Securities' cumulative subscriber count surpassed 10 million as of last month. The share of subscribers in their 20s and 30s, which stood at roughly 70% at launch, has since fallen to about 50%, while customers aged 40 and older now make up approximately 43% of the total — a sign of a more evenly distributed customer base across age groups.
"Domestic and foreign stock trading volume consistently increased on the back of a more active stock market and expanding investment demand in the first half," a Toss Securities official said. "The resulting growth in brokerage commission revenue has been driving strong earnings, and we continue to maintain solid performance."
