Comedian Park Jun-hyung has said he regained weight after stopping the obesity drug Wegovy, experiencing a rebound effect following his diet.

Park appeared as a guest Thursday on a video titled "We've met three times in 10 years… (We know everything about each other)" on the YouTube channel "Yujeong and Jujeong," run by actor Seo Yu-jeong.

When the production team asked whether he had successfully lost 10 kilograms through Wegovy, Park said he had originally weighed 110 kilograms and managed to drop to 100 kilograms with the drug's help. "But after I stopped taking it, the weight came back, and I'm now at 106 kilograms," he said.

Seo expressed surprise, asking, "Does the rebound really come back that severely?"

Park laughed it off, saying that for larger-framed people, even a trip to the bathroom can shift the scale by a kilogram. He added that he plans to resume dieting toward his goal weight of 102 kilograms.

Park is not alone. Singer Cho Hyun-ah, singer K.Will, YouTuber Ppanibottle and broadcaster Pungja have all spoken about experiencing rebound weight gain after stopping Wegovy.

Wegovy belongs to the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) class of drugs, originally developed to treat diabetes. GLP-1 drugs mimic hormones that regulate hunger and satiety, causing the brain to register fullness more quickly than usual and thereby reducing food intake.

Experts warn, however, that Wegovy can bring side effects including headaches, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, gallstones, hair loss and acute pancreatitis. They also caution that the drug's effects last only as long as it is taken, and that weight can return rapidly after stopping if diet and exercise are not maintained.
