Families treated to theme park visit with children

Korea Zinc said Friday that its employees had volunteered to take single mothers and their children to an amusement park, aiming to give families who had little opportunity for such outings — due to financial hardship or health reasons — a chance to make lasting memories.

The event, titled "Korea Zinc's Single Mom Step by Step 14th Anniversary — Amusement Park Cultural Outing," was held Friday at Lotte World in Jamsil, Songpa-gu, Seoul. About 60 people took part, including employees from Korea Zinc and its affiliates Axis IT, KG Trading and KZ Precision, single mothers and their children, and staff from the Dongbang Social Welfare Foundation.

Korea Zinc organized participants into groups in advance based on the ages of the children and their experience with rides, and assigned employee volunteers to each group. On the day, employees joined the families on a range of indoor and outdoor rides, shared lunch and took commemorative photos. Employees from Korea Zinc and its affiliates also rode attractions alongside the children in place of the mothers, giving families a wider range of experiences.

"We hope this cultural outing, shared with our employees, helped strengthen the bonds within single-mother families and create warm memories," a Korea Zinc official said. "We will continue to provide diverse support so that single mothers and their children can grow up bright and healthy."

Korea Zinc has supported single-mother households for 14 consecutive years through the Dongbang Social Welfare Foundation. The support covers medical assistance, cultural outings and one-day classes led by single-mother instructors. Through these programs, the company aims to help single mothers recover their health and achieve economic and social independence.

In March, the company organized a "Single Mom Step by Step — Together Class" volunteer event to support the social independence of single mothers working as instructors.
