Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun visited Mapo Pet Camping Ground (482-179, 180 Sangam-dong) inside Nanji Han River Park on Thursday afternoon to inspect operations at the dog water park and meet with pet owners.

Mapo Pet Camping Ground is a pet-friendly facility featuring separate play areas for small-to-medium and large dogs, as well as a picnic zone. The dog water park opened July 24 for the summer season.

During the visit, Yoo toured the size-segregated water play areas and amenities, checking on facility management and safety conditions. He also stopped by an on-site summer health checkup booth for dogs to see how it was being run.

He then tossed a ball to interact with the dogs and spoke with pet owners about any inconveniences they had experienced at the facility.

The dog water park runs through Aug. 30, operating Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in five reservation-based sessions per day. Each session accommodates up to 10 small-to-medium dogs and three large dogs, and admission is free.

"It's a joy to see the dogs splashing around and their owners smiling alongside them," Yoo said. "As life with pets has become part of everyday life, we will continue expanding spaces in the city where pet families can comfortably enjoy their leisure time."
