Anthropic is meeting with potential investors as it prepares for an initial public offering, though discussions have yet to address valuation or specific financial details, CNBC reported Thursday, citing sources.

Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao is leading the preliminary talks, sources said. The meetings cover broad topics including the company's Claude series of AI models, its market position, management, and the number of products and services it has launched to date.

Anthropic confidentially filed a draft registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in June. With no listing timeline made public, the company has spent recent weeks gauging market interest through meetings with prospective investors.

Anthropic was valued at $965 billion in a funding round that closed in late May — surpassing OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion in late March.

Some early investors expect Anthropic to achieve a valuation exceeding $2 trillion at its IPO, the Financial Times reported. That expectation is based on projections that the company's annualized sales will reach between $100 billion and $120 billion by year-end.
