Intelligent Information Committee convened Thursday to scale up AI- and data-driven support for small businesses
The Small Enterprise and Market Service launched its Intelligent Information Committee on Thursday to drive internal operational innovation and service upgrades, holding the body's inaugural meeting the same day.
The committee will proactively respond to changes in AI, data and digital technology while coordinating, deliberating on and advising the agency's medium- and long-term intelligent information policy and AI transformation initiatives across the organization.
Through this work, the agency plans to build a systematic AI governance framework and continuously expand AI- and data-driven support services for small business owners based on field demand.
The committee brings together more than 10 outside experts in AI, IT, data and information security from academia, the public sector and private industry, along with advisory members including non-standing directors of the agency and internal members headed by the AI and Digital Division chief.
The inaugural meeting opened with a briefing on the committee's operating plan, followed by focused discussions on the agency's medium- and long-term intelligent information strategy, proposed revisions to its intelligent information work guidelines, a draft AI ethics charter and an internal personal data protection management plan.
Going forward, the committee will deliberate on and advise strategies for advancing intelligent information projects, as well as risk management measures related to the construction, upgrading, integration and decommissioning of information systems that significantly affect agency operations, and the adoption and use of AI.
The committee also plans to regularly review the progress and outcomes of major intelligent information initiatives and examine a range of prerequisite issues, including standards for AI adoption and use, data governance, information security, personal data protection and AI ethics.
"The newly launched Intelligent Information Committee will serve as a strategic decision-making body that harnesses artificial intelligence to transform the way the agency works and improve support services for small business owners," agency chief In Tae-yeon said. "We will faithfully reflect the voices from the field and the insights of experts to continuously deliver results that small business owners can feel."
